24 Nov 2006 - Coroico, Bolivia

I think I have used every kind of keyboard known to man on this trip. The one I am using now is German - which for some reason loves to switch the place of the Y and the Z button. Why? We are looking at options to get into the jungle. We are either going to try to catch a boat out of here in the next few days to head down the river to Rurrenbaque, or go to Peru and visit the Amazon via Iquitos. In the meantime, I am sunburned and crabby. I want my normal Y and Z back!

21 Nov 2006 - La Paz, Bolivia

We were lucky to have arrived in Uyuni on the day we did. There are only a couple of trains to the north coming from this dusty frontier town. It's a nice little place which pretty much caters to those leaving or returning from the Salar de Uyuni tours. That being the case, it wasn't hard for us to order a pizza, drink a beer and have plenty of time to catch our 1:30 am train to the north, eventually ending up in La Paz about 11 hours later.

20 Nov 2006 Uyuni, Bolivia

Just finished a 3 day, 2 night 4x4 trek across the mountains and salt flats of northern Chile and southern Bolivia. We´re tired and dusty. That pretty much says it all.

17 Nov 2006 - San Pedro, Chile

We got into Santiago early in the morning and didn´t waste anytime finding a bus to head north. We had a grand plan to see some trains that did´t exactly work out, but we did have the most comfortable 19 hour bus rides in our life. What better way to follow up a long bus ride than with another one for 4 hours. After 2.5 days, we finally slept in a real bed last night and had a shower.

09 Nov 2006 - Minneapolis, MN

I'm getting ready to go to Bolivia for three weeks. Lots to do. I'll spend my weekend dusting off my pack, which hasn't moved since I came back from Guatemala. It's a good thing they confiscate fruits and vegetables at the border, otherwise I probably would have had some interesting specimens in my bag. I'll try to get the gallery updated before I leave, but I can't promise anything. I also have to winterize my car and clean out my garage. I doubt I'll be driving it when I return to snow and freezing temps.
